In 2019, Louise, Lyndon and their team of magnificent, local tradesmen took on the considerable job of restoring The Angel. The 18th coaching inn, having been shut for many years, was falling apart inside. With ceilings falling down, rotten beams, gaping holes in the walls and roof, all accessed by a rabbit warren of corridors, the task was not for the fainthearted. Yet step by step, with careful persistence and at times, unflappable patience, The Angel emerged from the rubble to become once again, the welcoming inn it once was.
Deciding not only to restore but also to improve, Louise’s team added to the original building with a small extension which now houses the new dining room, and additional bedrooms above. Keen to maintain as many original aspects of the Angel as possible, the bedrooms in the old part of building, proudly display their stone walls and the original fireplaces remain in the bar.
